My try to catch the dog in action:



It is my sister's dog and her name is "Fliege".

Good panning; I'd suggest zooming out a bit, and perhaps looking for a less distracting background, but you've got the panning right, which is the tough bit.

I like it! Nice capture. It's hard to avoid the distracting backgrounds some times but maybe a tighter crop at the top to make that red item go away would make a difference?

The are really hard to do well and this is a decent go at it for sure.
Notes for improvement would be not to crop the moving feet (Though i do realize this is hard stuff).

I'd love to see an angle like this from the front where the dog is running toward us but that doesn't really let you play with panning.

Go puppy go!!

Try it at a slower shutter speed Kerstin. At 1/320th you have got the background almost in focus which creates a distraction and also robs the photo of more sensation of speed.
For a running dog I think I'd be trying something along the lines of about 1/100th - 1/200th max at that focal range.

I like the low angle though which is usually best with small animals but as Marko said try to get those flying footsies in the shot as well

I like Border Collies. Our Border Collie died last year after a life of very nearly 18 years. My daughter still cries and thinking of him can still make me sad. He was a great friend and source of amusement. You have reminded me of him after a long day.
