I like the composition of #1, the way you've got the young boy looking up, his expression is perfect. The second one I think is cropped a little too tightly. I would like to see it opened up to include little more of the man, as well as both their hands. It would benefit from some fill light to illuminate their faces as well. I'm not fond of the soft haze vignette you've used, but that's a personal thing. Too me it just seems a little 'too much'. Nice work though, and #1 is excellent!
