Yer Kanne get oot ... or: how to hold together a crumbling building

Took this shot at the Medalta Potteries in Medicine Hat. Then convertyed it to monochrome. Did not like it much in monochrome, so I tried some tritone mixture ... got better, but was still not showing the mood I was after. So I added some "noise". Yes, I was getting closer. And finally, I manipulated the lines a bit, and this is what I really wanted to see.

Cool stuff, Matt! I kind of like the first too with the unusual colours but the last does have more charm.

Result of having rust contacting wood. The black staining of the wood is most likely due to a chemical reaction of the iron with the tannin in the wood.

This contraption was put in place to hold the stomewrok together. I suppose they added masonary to the entry of the kiln, and wanted to keep it straight .. hence all the wooden wedges behind the steel bands.
