is there a way to know there's going to be a nice sunrise or are you just hoping for luck?

It's often hit and miss and then you have make lemonade.
BUT ... if there's cloud around the odds are higher it will be a nice sunrise. If it is clearing cloud from rain ... the odds seem greater again.
