There are at least two broods of little ones - one of the residents says three, but I've only seen that one of the latest nests has hatched.

And I couldn't resist parent and baby doing a soft shoe routine. :p

It's very common. Both parents raise the chicks and are protective. When there are enough broods, multiple sets of parents will join together and look after the entire passel. It's already happening in one of the parks. By the end of the month I'll be seeing groups of half a dozen adults and all the chicks ranging from a couple weeks old to late teens. They sometimes block traffic once the groups get that large.
