In order to save server space and reduce the time it takes to load a page, you must note that there are limits to how large the file can be (usually 325k) and if your file is too large you have to resize it (make it smaller). There are also limits as to the dimensions of a file and they are 1029x1029 pixels but this is rarely a problem. If the filesize exceeds 325k (Even though it's set at 340k - it seems to need 10-15k for EXIF), then the forum software compresses it and the image doesn't look its best.

You need a graphics program to do this and many computers come pre-loaded with graphics programs. If you need one though, you can get a good free one at irfanview.com (http://www.irfanview.com) or Gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org)

Please know that 325k is more than enough to upload a great picture. As you can see by the images posted so far, and this attachment below, the maximum file size and image dimension sizes are more than adequate.

Of course you should feel free to use any image hosting site like flickr, photobucket, etc and link the image from there. Thanks!

IRFANVIEW is a great free resizing tool.

Here are clear and simple instructions on how to use it,
