Little historic church located in Morely Alberta. Built in 1875.
Being out there shooting this weekend makes me better understand the term "God's Country" as the scenery was really quite spectacular!

George MacDougall headstone...inscription reads:
"The deceased was chairman of the Wesleyan Missions in the North-West.
He lost his way on the prairie about 40 miles east of this place on January 24 1876. His body was found on the 5th of the following month and interred here by his sorrowing family who have erected this tribute to his memory."

Still at the church.....I loved the symbolism of the gate and the looming mountains in the background. :)

"God's country"...I'm sorry, but for that you have to get to Toffino/long beach on Vancouver Island :D I really like the first shot for unusual reasons...I was thinking how it would make a great opening to a film (of course I was writing the script as I was gazing at your image) but I had in mind a funeral with this as the opening shot and slowly the people attending said funeral walk into frame down the path toward the church. Not to put a slant on it, it could also be a wedding:) Anyway #1 works for me, good work

I've been to Tofino/Long beach and you will get no argument from me there MAW! :highfive: I think this is just as Godlike but for different reasons.
Funny you mention that about the film opening...We were sitting in the St. James Gate Pub in Banff (best asparagus, crab and Guiness soup I've ever had in my life ) shortly after we arrived and started talking to the bartender. Told him about how we stopped at this church and he said "Oh you mean the Gun's and Roses church from the video November Rain." There's a scene where Slash is wailing on his guitar about 4 minutes into the video and while it does look amazingly like the church above, it isn't.. but really close though. :)

Thanks for the kind words.

I could just about picture a congregation in old fashioned clothing for the first one. Nice work.

Fantastic location, I love the low perspective of the first shot, I was trying to work out if it would look better with the church bang slap in the centre. But actually I quite like what you have done placing it to the left, as it counteracts the shadow the fence is casting.
