Although Pontcysllte Aqueduct is a world heritage site photo wise it’s not so good. Below the bridge is a sewerage farm and all around it are trees. Plus the local area was industrial so houses and other structures near by are not the prettiest. From Chester through Wrexham nearest city and town. A duel carriageway takes one quite close. The last mile or so through Acrefair to Trevor and left through a housing estate and then left and right into car park. The Trevor basin is home to Anglo-Welsh who hire canal narrow boats so always some boats to see and in season there are day boat trips but most can be seen on foot. To left of bridge one can descend to river Dee and at pumping station you can get a reasonable view of Bridge overhead wires to sewerage station are not too visible. Either end of bridge one can get views of the metal trough on the stone pillars. Walking to Froncysyllte side and around the corner there is a small lifting bridge and a point where one can get a side view of bridge about 100mm lens will capture whole bridge from here. Walking towards Llangollen on the tow path there are two small foot bridges but it is a good mile before one can get a clear view of Aqueduct and would need about a 300mm lens. Better views are to be had from the main A5 road. However that would include chemical works in back-ground. With Llangollen hosting the International Eisteddfod each year the area does get a fair few international visitors. The remains of Valle Crucis Abbey on route to Ruthin over the Horse Shoe pass would also likely be of interest. Here caravans are a problem the Abbey is a caravan site. There are clear shots to be had but because of the sun over the mountains this needs to be a morning venue. Limited parking and in summer there is a charge. Both venues I have taken many photographs of and at this time of year although leaves do not obscure as much one ends up with very brown and black images.

Is this what you are after in this slot?
