Exposed

They suck, huh? Or maybe too avant garde or maybe not avant garde enough? Here's the thing. I was sitting by the river watching the ducks and geese, killing time taking a few shots as they came near me and when I heard the two geese come out of the water, I stood up and panned maybe four shots. It took seconds and no forethought on my part. And everyone thinks they are cool. Before that I was downtown photographing the manniquins in the Holt Renfrew window. Their theme was "exposed." Well, that seemed fortuitous to me. I lined up some shots to get the elements I wanted in them. I could not move stuff around, I had a lot of reflection to deal with and just getting the shot to start with took some planning on my part. The HR window dresser's idea of "Exposed" may or may not of coincided with mine but there it was.

So, I get back home and shots like these are conducive to a lot of play so I put a texture on the first and just cranked the other to give it a look I liked.

Well. Ok.You might say that it is not my art because I did not assemble all the elements together or even come up with the idea. But I did see something and interpreted it with my own vision and ideas. Is that wrong? Is it any less art then one of the many famous cityscape photos of New York? Is it any less art then a weird view of a highrise or bridge?

It's the eye of the photographer/artist, I guess.

I think they are interesting. The colours work well and it is your art.

Hey, Jas, sorry I missed these the first time through. It's been a busy week and I haven't had a chance to connect as much as I would have liked. Number one is kinda blah to me but I *REALLY* like Exposed 2. The different layers of being exposed with the xray in there is very cool. I'm also more of a fan of colour as well.

In regards to the "art" discussion, I would have to say that this is YOUR art and whether all of us like it or none of us like it shouldn't matter. You should create your art for you. If others happen to like it then cool and nice and all but don't knock your own work because of what someone else thinks.

All that being said, I think it was a simple matter of it slipping through the digital cracks. Cheers and keep up the great work! :thumbup::thumbup:

well first of all, they don't suck. I haven't seen one of yours that sucks yet.
Sorry that I missed this. I checked the date and it was one of those crazy days at work but I am sorry.

I like the first one with the textures. I think it works. The other one is interesting too. I am thinking that the store might like these as well. :)

I like them JAS! Especially the second one. I think you got some interesting elements into the frame, and actually get me to spend more time analyzing the composition and thinking about the "meaning" behind the shot. Well done.

B&W works best for me, but with that said both are interesting compositions - keep up the good work.
