I need a laptop for my job (my second job-the one that lets me travel) and my current HP is about the crap out on me. the wireless doesn't work anymore (I used an external wireless thingy) and when it hibernates it won't come back on. So the writing is on the wall that perhaps it won't last much longer. After looking at reviews and soliciting advice this is what I decided on:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (http://ca.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=CyyiEd0t9iKZ6Afg)

Asus seems to have really good reviews out there and I am not ready to make the jump to a Mac.

It will be nice to have a fast and light laptop :) Now I just have to move everything over.........but it won't too awful. I've been backing up like crazy on my portable hard drive.

anyway, I just had to share :)

Asus makes decent laptops, and a new toy is a new toy lol, hope it runs hassle free for you.

Just make sure you get the biggest hard drive you can get -- and don't forget a second drive of the same size for backup. Or think about Carbonite which seems like a reasonable price for the average laptop owner.

My experience with Asus is pretty good. They make really decent stuff. You'll have lot's of fun with it, I'm sure... ;)

ok so I picked it up today and so far so good. It is so much faster and shinier then my other one. The monitor is interesting too. the colours are more vibrant and apparently I can do some calibration. Need to figure that out.
