Hi all,
Something I've been noticing I've been doing lately is instead of taking the time to comment on someone's photo they've posted, Ive been more interested in replying to the off topic conversations that have resulted within the same thread. :sorry:
I realize that if someone takes the time and effort to post a photo that it's just as disheartening to see several comments most of which do not have one comment about the photograph posted and many of which are about the off topic subject that has taken on a life of it's own within the thread. Other times I've posted comments that have very little to do with the photo/image itself and more about me and my goings on.
I want you all to know am going to really try to make more of an effort to post at least one comment regarding the actual photo within the thread before I jump into the off topic conversation going on within the same thread or post something that has nothing to do with my thoughts about the image itself.....I think it's only fair to all the great members on here and will help continue to keep ph.ca the happy and helpful place it is. :)
:thankyou: for reading.

I haven't found any of your contributions to be out of bounds. Chatter is what makes a forum or bb work. Don't feel bad about it.

yup, I agree. Of course I'm one of the worst offenders!!! :o

But I will remember the idea of speaking about the photo :):fingerscr

I've managed a couple of very big forums, and I can safely say this is very normal. I'm doing it myself, first checking things like offtopic and then the show forums. It's a good thing, cause it means the forum is developing into a community and you're interested in the people first, and then their work. So, don't feel bad, we've got a really nice group of people here, so it's natural it draws your attention. :)

I've mentioned this before, and related to my own forums I run where the rule is that the person who has started the thread must have received the feedback they were seeking before off topic conversation is allowed. I also let that thread author stipulate if they want the topic strictly adherred to.

Having said that, I also haven't noticed anyone being unreasonable with their off topic conversations here.

Sometimes I think it's nice that a photo sparks a conversation due to things people saw or thoughts the photo induced in them.

I agree and my intent was not to offend or upset anyone.:)

I can only do what is best for me and I've noticed that a more than a few times I've jumped into an off topic conversation within a thread before actually commenting on the image in thread....I guess for me (and only IMO) that doesn't seem right and I guess I want to try to change that so I figured this is a good place to start. I'm not judging anyone or trying to point fingers in anybody's direction. I will say though bonus if it sparks anyone think and maybe to do the same then great...if not then that is okay also.
Further I was not suggesting anyone's comments or behavior was inappropriate at all and I apologize if that was what was interpreted from my ramble...again, just trying to be the good, decent, respectable person I am (and like everyone on here) and do what I think is right. :o
Thanks for the feedback.

See Bambi? You 'baited' me ... and I bit ;)

I am assuming that he just doesn't understand it well enough yet. If he coming now he could play in our fun bonspiel at the end of march. It's called Sleepwalkers and consists of curling, drinking and dancing in no particular order friday and saturday.

You guys will find me boring. I think I've had about 4 beers since Christmas (when I didn't drink any), I don't dance, and I will never curl! I think I'll bring my bike!

well we are. It's just a NEW topic :p

MA I doubt you'd be boring and I don't get drunk at these things (actually I don't get drunk) but like my wine/beer/tequila-just in moderation and not at the same time :) and besides what have you to lose to try? You're not that old that you can't learn a new trick.

Casil, there would be boys to dance with. and girls. It will be fun. And dancing is good exercise..... Once you get out on your bike again it will be easy to lose the weight. School is tough on weight gain!!!

Canadian Winter is tough on weight gain too. I already got the speech from a couple of my dear friends about making sure I have hard shank bike shoes this year...no more riding with water sandals and getting fractured metatarsals this year....damn I like the tan lines. I said that to him and he glared at me...lol!

Not sure what's going on here behind the scenes, but it should not be posted in the open forums. It should be taken to PM.

What goes on on other websites is not my concern and I'll never have any control over it.

But on THIS website, 99.9% of the time the tone is civil, friendly and that's the way I want to keep it. If ANY member is ever having trouble I invite you to PM me and I'll do whatever I can to help.

One thing I want to point out is the ignore list. You can put any member on that list and you will not see their posts or receive PMs from them. I wish everyone was great friends but that's not reality....Just please keep it off the board. USER CP - SETTINGS & OPTIONS - EDIT IGNORE LIST

Even though this (My) post is off topic, the Op's original point has been made - (comment more on the photos, less off topic chat)

This thread will therefore be closed and always members can PM me.

Thx - Marko
