Yeah, the false modesty thing can be an anchor dragging you down. I know I'm a good photographer, and occasionally a great one, but it's hard to type or say. And forgetting stuff is human no matter how paychecks get earned. I forget stuff I should know better than to forget all the time. A lot of it is simply how much we need to remember now. Back in film days it was more limited - f-stop, shutter speed, setting the ASA for the film, deciding a lens and filter and maybe a tripod. Then it was just composition and bracketing. Now we have white balance and ISO on the fly and a ton of other technical wizardry both pre and post shot. No wonder we can't keep any of it straight.
