Despite the preferences of some, likenesses, displays, visual effects, fireworks displays etc. are not copyrightable. To be copyrightable a work must be in a "substantive form" or tangeable form with some degree of permanence.

Whether buildings are copyrightable or not, does not mean that you cannot photograph them. In the U.S. where they try to tell you that you cannot photograph a copyrighted building there is a PHOTOGRAPHIC EXEMPTION in the legislation that permits taking photos of any copyrighted building.
