Well I have been doing a lot of reading and research on vintage cameras and I was unaware this site even existed considering all the reading on cameras I do, just surprised I never had reason to end up here before. It is a free-content encyclopedia of camera information on still photographic cameras. I found it useful and interesting and some others might like it.

My father has just given me his old German half plate camera and I note this has adjustment to raise and lower lens and move from side to side so that buildings will have parallel sides. Very compact camera much smaller than my D-SLR when folded up and I wonder why these stopped being used?

Today software will allow us again to correct images but as far as I can tell he stopped using the camera because the film for brownie was cheaper and easier to get. It has an adaptor to allow a cassette with 12 exposures to be used and three view finders. One a wire and sight. Other two you look down on. One portrait the other landscape. Also you could use frosted glass and bag over head. The focus clicked into infinity and was marked for normal use but the bellows would extend to allow real macro work if required but again bag over head job to focus.

I held D-SLR against back without it's lens and set shutter to stay open then took image with D-SLR and it worked. Did consider making a back so I could use D-SLR but really no point other than to test lens.
