View Full Version : An old shot re-visited
Found the original Tiff for this and decided to re-work it in Lr 3 Beta.

Decided to leave it in colour and not convert it to B&W. What would you leave alone, what would you change.

Hi Edouard,
I like the detail in the shot, the rusty pedal, and focus on the crank. For me a little detail is lost in the snow/ice which seems a little blown out. I do think the colour version adds something.

This would have been an excellent shot..except the snow is too clipped - imo, if you cannot save the snow's detail, with further PP (and I don't think you can) this shot is not a keeper.
Hope that helps - Marko
Thanks for tips, will keep trying

That's an old pair of Sugino's!! I had Sugino's on a bike I raced back in the 80's.
You obviously considered a B&W ... why did you decide not to exactly? I think due to the blown out snow and the age of the old cranks that B&W is worth a go.

I would also consider a crop of just the lower part of the picture. The blown out snow is gone and it makes it interesting!

The problem with the snow is it's the first thing you're eye goes for (at least mine:) ) The other thing I'd like to see is the chain wheel not cut off at the bottom but that's strictly my style coming through. If you'd managed to get those too in the shot I would have thought "What a great image" It's still a great image, well seen:thumbup:
