View Full Version : first test with graduateted ND filter
Today around noon, very heavy overcast/clouds - waited for the sun to peak through and started shooting. Tweaked it a bit in Lr 3 (beta). Used a Cokin graduated ND 8 "P" filter on my D5000 with the 18-55 kit lens.

Cool! Shooting straight at the sun and retaining detail certainly suggests a successful test huh?

Here is an interesting article (http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/neutral-density/neutral-density.htm) on using two exposures and photoshop. Ron Bigelow has a few interesting articles.
MA - I'm pleased with the outcome and the results will improve as my experience grows - l have acquired an ND 4, and two graduated ones ( ND 4 and ND 8), will be adding a CPOL/CPOL warming or coloured in time.
Greg - many thanks for the link, always enjoy getting more info and tutorials that will help me to improve my results.

I use that technique often ... have done for many years. You can see the same technique used in my sharpening tutorial ... http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f10/post-processing-sharpening-mad-way-4965.html
