so what made you switch? seems like buying all new lenses, etc., would be a pretty pricey proposition, unless there was some compelling reason to change systems...

I'd say the motto of the Filson Clothing Company sums it up well enough. ;)

Hi squirl. The reason I switched to Nikon is because I wanted a camera with accurate, sharp and consistent auto focus. The Nikon D700 has AMAZING auto focus. I had a chance to try a friends D700 and I was sold. The AUTO ISO feature is also a wonderful feature to have when shooting in constantly changing light. I could go on and on but really I switched because of the accurate auto focus. All the brands have there good points and bad. I guess it boils down to what is important to you - jimmy :)

I really like this shot JJJ! Nice feel composition and treatment.

"All the brands have there good points and bad. I guess it boils down to what is important to you - jimmy" I so agree with that.

Question about the D700, I tested one a few months ago but didn't notice this: Supposedly the viewfinder is not at 100%. It shows only 90-95% of the scene. Have you noticed this or any consequence of this fact?

Thx! - Marko

Hi Marko. I wear eyeglasses so I really don't get a normal or even a great view through the viewfinder. Eyeglasses don't let your eye get right up to the viewfinder window! This is a pain. I can tell you the D700 viewfinder appears larger and much brighter than my Canon 40D. Thanks for the nice comments on my pic - jimmy :)

i'd heard the D700 was one of Nikon's best in that regard... though i've never had a problem with either my 40D or my 5D focusing accurately, as long as there's half decent light. hopefully you didn't have too much invested in lenses, and could at least pawn off your Canon gear for enough to cover the cost of the D700...

Hi Rocky. I actually sold my Canon 40D last night and my 17 to 85 mm.
I have a pristine, as new, EF 70 t0 200mm 2.8 L IS USM for sale. Also a, like new Canon, Speedlight 430 EX. Also have my Lensbaby 2.0 for sale. I am just not sure of the rules here. Don't think I can post prices - jimmy
