i rather like the effect, but it shows a lot of noise in the sky... a pass through Noise Ninja or Neat Image or the like would really help...

I could probably do that in layers (get rid of the noise), Rocky since I purposely put in the effect I do not want to soften it out again.

cleaning up noise doesn't necessarily soften an image, if done carefully, but if you put the noise there on purpose, that's a different can of worms... ;)

Ok, it's been replaced with a softer sky and slightly different crop as well. THanks for the help. :)

Thanks, M.A. (I think) Here is another taken today. Non HDR. It really was a colorless day but I wanted to exploit that too if possible.

I don't mind that last one. Sure was bleak day and that deciduous tree sure adds to that feeling.
Love the detail in the bridge and ice blocks. The bleak tones work for me.
