The article doesn't seem to say it had proof the wolf was actually tame.
Another link. Who knows? I guess his reputation is tarnished now.

All I know is if a wild wolf decided to hop the gate where I'm at I'd be pretty scared stiff!
They must of had a way..you couldn't just say no because that is what you think. You would need some sort of proof..or so I would hope!

Did they not match the picture with some form of zoo and matched the wolf to a wolf that lives there? Thats what i remember reading in another similar article anyway. Its a beautiful picture no doubt but given the nature of the contest a tame animal really is against the point.

No-one will know for sure what the photographer did to get this shot except for the photographer himself. That being said, I had lived in the wild during the spring, summer and fall of 2008 and from my experiance's wolves don't come anywhere near you. They do however watch you from afar. It is very rare that a wolfe will come anywhere near you. Bears on the other hand come too close for comfort!

I remember reading about this shot in a photography magazine a few months ago. It is a shame it got so far before being questioned.

Don't know a whole lot about wolves apart from what I've been taught by "MGM":D But I'd be inclined to agree with your assessment. That being said, I do think it's an award winning image. I wouldn't have the balls to enter a contest knowing my image was fraudulent, maybe that's why I'm fretting over rent this month:laughing:
