I use this style of processing a bit myself.
Looking at this I see lots of products there but none of them stand out as the actual subject. So then I figure, all of them must be the subject. But if that were the case I'd expect, and my eyes seem to need, whatever the subject is to be in focus or at least highlighted in some way.
I'm sure, used in context, that the photo would work fine. By that I mean if it was on the cover of a cooking book with Text all over it etc then the photo would be just fine.
Right on the money MA - I was preparing dinner and decided that I would use some of the ingredients in a "cookbook cover" like shot. I was just trying out various settings on my 70-300. No one particular element was to be the key focus, I was attempting to bring out the various textures of each element. Thanks, appreciate your insight.

I agree with MA's critique. My eye wants something more in focus.
Overall i like this shot and its treatment is interesting for this type of shot.
A few things to consider would be;
- The onion behind the tomatoes - For me it's a distraction.
- Those tomatoes could look fresher. At the very least I'd have taken off the dried up 'stems'.
Hope that helps - Marko
Thanks Marko - both MA and your insights are very helpful, will try to put your recommendations into practice.
Cheers
Edouard
