not trying to be artsy here, but there was so little colour in the shot that B&W worked better:

What's wrong with being "artsy"? Is this not a "Fine Art Photography Forum"?? :confused:
This shot looks nice in B&W but I think it might look even better in a nice sepia. Give it an "old world" flavour.

nothing wrong with it at all. I just meant that I wasn't going for the drama but that seemed to be the only way to save the shot :) I'll try the sepia too.

i like the B&W treatment, but there are some blown spots in the sky you might want to tone down just a bit... otherwise, a nice composition that captures the feel of winter quite well.

thanks Squirl, any time I try to fix these things they look worse then when I started. any tips?
