Well had a friend get me into a building today that overlooks Toronto from the North, it is a very rare view and was lucky I was able to get up there. He is going to try getting us up there in the night, if it happens would be so cool. It was a great time, had no restrictions on the roof where we were allowed to go. This photo is over 3 times in width of the larger image link I posted and looks far, far better in the original, to much detail to pack into these smaller photos but here it is. The link takes you to the 1024 width size. I have a ton of photos from this shoot will take some time to pick out the ones I really like.

PS: Not stitched shot at 12mm and cropped. I have the photos to stitch together the panorama of the entire lake from that view. The same as with the Stelco shot I posted in another thread, just shot and cropped but may try my hand a doing the panoramas of both these photo sets since I do have more photos to actually do a far wider panorama.

wow - sooo many people are packed into that tiny spot of earth huh...

i would love to see some more shots of this view - this one looks good to me, but i have no professional opinion, just my own eyeballs. ;)

loves the skyline...

oh, i'd crop just a teeny tiny bit off the righthand side, to get rid of that half building. :)

I have far better ones than this, but need to sift through them all and decide which ones to actually work on, this one was just quickly picked because it was at the front of the photos and not because it was one of the better ones. I did a quick chop job to it and uploaded it. I went out for to do another shoot earlier after I met with the Priest of the Church and I received a call from a friend saying if I wanted he could get me to the roof of the place. So I have over 700 photos from today to sort and rate and also need to get the Church photo mounted and framed so not sure when I will get to all these, this one was just to share the great view I had.

for sure - and thanks for sharing! its a beatiful view! we can wait patiently for more shots... :D

may i ask how you are framing & mounting the church photo? do you do it yourself or take it somewhere?

I am going to have it done, the Church offered to pay for it. I know a couple of area places that will do it just going to see who has what frame. I saw what they currently use so I will pick something that matches what they already have. I may start to mount and frame my own but for this one just easier to get it done. I have a full shop of tools so its not that I lack the tools or ability but my shop is in a mess after the winter so until I can get motivated to organize it I am going to hire it out. I prefer to do things myself when possible why I bought a printer that will give me Archival quality Photos. So once the shop is organized I will start doing my own frames both metal and wood. The only thing I won't do is cut my own glass because I don't want to be storing it for any length of time. Sorry about the ramblings, lol.

Improving the exposure and reducing the contrast in postprocessing would greatly improve this image. I notice there is also a blue haze that affects the colour of some of the buildings near the CN Tower. Ideally, a camera position further to the right/west and perhaps a little closer would give a more 3 dimensional shape to the buildings as a result of the direction of the light. The sky is also a challenge in this type of shot which often means experimenting with filters.

I have some with and without a circular polarizing filter, this was just posted for viewing. I am working on a few better ones now, this one as I said was posted because it was at the first of the list. Would not waste any more effort on it and because of the view, only copies that are not worth printing will be uploaded. The best of the them will only be for printed copies only. Even with this one at full size and resolution you get far more detail looks far better, but only going to put any post processing effort into the ones that stand out and for printing. Why it is not in the critique area. Where these photos were taken is the only place in all of Toronto that these shots can be done, no where else has this view and I know the history of the building so I am one of a handful of people who would have been able to get there and get these shots, it is highly restricted and even then a handful of people since that building was built have access to that level and not be behind glass. The building is about 60 years old and I may be actually one three people ever up their with a SLR or DSLR camera. I know that over the history they have allowed two photographers up there to take photos on the lower exterior level, the upper level has no rails or barriers so only the roof guys have ever been allowed up top. When I say rare I truly mean rare. And no photos that can be used to print wil be uploaded on the net. These ones are for print only, that one was just to show the view.

I am just a hoping and a praying he can get me up there for a night shoot, I would be delirious with happiness if he can pull it off. I like these but my preference is for night photography and that at night must be spectacular. I think I am drooling just thinking of it lmaoo.

I posted this to a response about views of Toronto at a Computer site I belong to, and thought I would post it here since I have it uploaded. Again not here for critique just posting it for the view. So you all know I am only using low quality images and images I think are below what I consider my good ones for now. I was at this spot another 45 minutes and the other photos are even more stunning pink sky and the city is lit up more brilliantly. I am working on doing a site just to display my photos how I think they should be displayed online, so keeping the best for when it goes live. Not all my shoots are disasters lol.
