I Just listened to Podcast #76 - great podcast Marko! I think it will be very helpful for those trying to decide between P&S or DSLR, and which is best for them. The only one, minor addition that would have been nice is if you had weighed in on the new 'Micro Four-Thirds' cameras - would love to have your thoughts on this new format!

I have a Canon *G10* (not G11, but similar) and everything you mentioned is 'spot on' with my experience using it over the past year or so. Just some notes and tidbits from my (very amateurish) experience with the G10:

HOW I USE IT
If I'm going out with the intention of taking some photos, then I take my Lumix GF-1. If I'm going out for some other purpose (going for a walk, to meet friends, visiting, to work or the grocery store) then I grab the G10 and throw it in my jacket pocket. In that way, it's used for more 'spontaneous' shooting :-) I know others who like to use it for unobtrusive 'street' photos or as a travel camera when they need to travel light.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT
1) Size, image quality (for a compact)
2) Build quality and durability
3) Canon's design/layout (top dials and easy access to exposure comp, ISO, etc.)

WHAT CHALLENGES I HAVE WITH IT
1) Low light performance (I've been spoiled by the f1.7 of the GF-1 and I love 'existing light' photos)
2) Noise/grain at higher ISOs (anything over 400)
3) Inability to create really shallow DoF (I love to use DoF and Bokeh)

SOME PROPS FOR THE G10
- I think the Canon G-series got a big boost in respectability with famous photojournalist Gary Knight's endorsement of it as 'the ultimate street camera'

- I've heard that Canon has used the G10 to take some of their stock photos

A PHOTO
I've been shooting more the the GF1, but do have one or two photos up from my G10. You'll see lots of noise in the large view of this photo:

Looking forward to the next podcast!

Thanks for that podcast, I am considering getting my wife one as she gets more into photography as a hobby and she enjoys tagging along with me during photo shoots and would like to get her a decent p&s. This is the Camera I am considering getting her so it was helpful.
