I am looking for a good starter Digital SLR camera, one that I can learn with and add to as I am learning.

Is the Canon EOS 10D a good starter camera with growth and learning potential? I have been using a Panasonic point and shoot but I want to be able to do more.
What should I expect to pay for this camera used? :)

I might go for the 20D instead, it's one notch higher, but it's a better camera. Ebay has some models around 400 beans if you get a good deal.

I agree with Marko. In the long run you save money by getting a slightly better camera than one that you think might need since it stretches the time before you need to upgrade.

The 20D is a great camera and very similar to the 30D which I have and can vouch for. Plus you'll still find great deals on a 20D. :D

I'm back.

Is it used, and I got it for $450 with 2 batteries, 2 lenses (Zuiko Digital ED 40-150 mm, F4.0-5.6 and Zuiko Digital 14-45mm, F3.5-5.6), a case and charger.

Now I'll start to practice more about ISO, light etc etc

I'm so happy.

Hello I am a Canon shooter and have been for a long time. I think the best entry level camera is a Nikon D200-D300. You can say enough about a water sealed body with a good price. Canon has not got that hint yet!!

I just can wait to start practice (because I'll get my camera this Monday).

Just wanted to bump this a little bit. I think that if you're looking at your camera as an investment - and, when you take photography seriously, it is - then it's worth it to spend a bit more up front. When you're able to spend an extra hundred bucks or so now, it'll save you spending another thousand a year or so down the road.

If I were you I'd take a couple thousand pictures to get the feel for what you need.. :)

Quick question : should I buy a good lens for my camera (Olympus E500) or after I'm doing my lessons on this one to buy another one better?
This Olympus coming with 2 lenses.
I'm not thinking to buy right now, later, but... should I or not?

Personally, I'd wait - I'd struggle with that choice, of course, but I'd wait. By playing with and getting a feel for the camera first you'll be able to get a much better sense of what you're looking and what will help you to capture the shots that you want.
