I've driven and ridden my pushbikes past this memorial on the side of Mt Mee many times over the past few years. I've never stopped until today. As I drove up I noticed more flowers than I've seen before and had to take some photos and learn a little about this commemoration.
Colin John Morton (b1062) died here on his motorcycle in 1997. I don't know the story and never knew the man.
His family and loved ones obviously still visit this site often and place flowers by the rock and engine cover of Colin's bike.
I hope I'm remembered this fondly when I go.

They've dragged a rock to the location I think. It's on a switchback part way up the mountain I usually see it either as I'm doing about 60 kph on the way donw on my bike or in the car, or when I'm sweating and struggling on the way up.

it is lovely. Here they put these tacky crosses up on the side of the highway. I hate them. This, however, is quite tasteful.

We have the crosses also. Although I must admit the practice seems to be dying out somewhat. Not as many as there used to be and the road toll isn't getting less as far as I'm aware.

These are really nice tributes MA, well done despite the sad reason for their making.
