While waiting at a wedding reception last weekend, I saw these horses.

those are nice looking horses. I so often seen pictures of horses that don't look as well put together as these, so thanks :)

I don't think I understand what you are saying. It's an interesting comment though, can you elucidate?

Sorry Iggy. In horses you will see a wide variety of conformations. I think it's because there are so many breeders and many people breed horses that shouldn't be bred (for a whole blog on that, refer to Fugly Horse of the Day (http://www.fuglyhorseoftheday.blogspot.com/)).

Now because of my background with horses I tend to be bit critical :). (I have a whole rant on how horses are portrayed in TV and the movies ). However, many people see horses in a field and think 'oh pretty' and snap the picture. And for them it is pretty. Often I look and I see a horse in poor weight, or with serious conformation flaws (those that lead to a horse not being sound). I can live with the flaws but seeing some pictures of horses underweight REALLy bothers me. But with the flaws I don't think 'pretty' I think "over at the knee, ewe necked, sickle hocked' so I don't enjoy it.

In Antz shot I see horses that are nicely put together conformation wise, they are in good weight with shiny coats. The field is full of grass and the fencing is good quality and safe. So for me it appeals from both a composition and from an equestrian view point.

does that help? :)

Wow. It is at times like this when I realize, yet again, that there is way too much information in the world to know everything. :D

To me, a horse is a horse (unless, of course, it's Mr. Ed ;) )
