Santa shot

Shot a whole whack of kids with Santa tonight for my roommates daycare and made some errors in shooting judgment. There was no charge I just did it for fun. In my attempt to rescue said shots I thought I'd go with the Orton effect as a mask for my foolishness. My roommate has already told all that I would put the images on a CD for all concerned. I have sugested that next year they hang a backdrop and maybe place some carpet down to hide the cork floor which IMO looks like plywood. Anyway, your thoughts on the pseudo Rockwell look would be appreciated.

The Orton is cool. The truth is the parents are more interested in looking at their kids then anything else. But ....Santa needs a big chair with a high back, preferrably red. And he needs a tree. With lights. And a big pile of presents nearby. Maybe a cosy rug on the floor. An elf or helper would be kind of nice too. :) Anything- wreathes, tinsel garland, bows, ribbons- that would give us the idea that it was Christmas.

Well..I"ve learnt one thing this week is sometimes we get not the best to work with and if you want to do it so be it..the results may not work out.

Despite what you are missing..the pp works great!!!! The parents won't even see the lacking!

Bang on imo! santa needs santa props.

The angle for this shot is also off imo. Straight on with both people looking into the camera is what I'd recommend. each kid should also have a closeup w/santa.

Thanks guys...It was a nasty environment with lots of squealing giggling munchkins all around my feet. Santa got a computer chair to sit in and it was just....All wrong :D Next year I hope to get them on board with the needs of a good image as far as environment goes. I seldom do well at these sorts of shoots and this was a testament to that concept:) I really was hoping the Orton was passable and it seems you guys are on board with that. 50 Ortons is gonna take me some time :D:D:D

I like the image a lot. Great processing too. Almost like Harry Potter visits Santa. I would go with a tighter crop. Crop off the distraction to the left of Santa and then crop off the are above the knees of the boy to the floor. That's how I would crop it anyway.

I like the current background and I think you could make it work next year too. I hate standard studio backdrop's so maybe you shouldn't listen to me *LOL*
