Simplicity and contrast gives this otherwise flat shot some visual interest and impact although as with any shot, it could always be better.

This is a VERY strong shot tegan.

Given that the place is called Sandfield (I think you forgot the d in the threadtitle) and there is a sign that says so in the shot...I would have liked the word sandfield to be sharper. Also on my monitor there are parts of the sand that are losing texture and could be burned in maybe 5% more...maybe.
Aside from that you are right - you turned a potentially boring shot into something cool.

Can you provide the Exif data for us and tell us how you post processed it?

The only postprocessing done was to take out a lamppost with a light on it right in the middle of the scene. I would have liked to take out the sign as well and just leave the benches but cloning trees, coastline and horizon would have been difficult and time consuming.
