I've played around with this shot for some time ... trying it as HDR but really to no real success with what I had. Processed it as normal also ... again it seemed ok but lacked any punch. Then, while thinking I was lucky to have not got any lens flare considering how I'd just hidden the sun behind the rock ... I wondered how that might look and added the flare in. I like it. But ... do you??

Yep. It really gives you the feel of the bright sun.

It does look cool. Are there any options with the lens flare tool in PS? All the examples I have seen look quite similar and it is kind of a signature of PS added flare.

Bright sun and a clean lens :)

I like it MA...it adds something to the photo. Good on you for experimenting with it. :)

I think it really adds to this one.

well now I don't know if I do or not. How's that for definite?

I like the flare around the sun at the top but not so much all the flare down the bottom.

That said, it's not a deal breaker for me. Just not one of my favs of yours :)
Maybe if you added in some fluff?:clown:

Interesting play MA; and I like your thinking and gumption.

For me the image was just an okay one without the flare and the flare hasn't bought it up a level for me. I've seen wow shots from you lately so for me this one is just a 'meh'. :footinmou Hope that helps - Marko

Thanks for those opinions folks. Interesting spread of thoughts. At least no one seemed to think it ruined it.

I wish there was a more custom filter AntZ but PS only has 4 presets. With a bit of layer and blending work I was able to tone down the top of this flare and create something a bit more realistic.

:) Bambi ... nothing like a bit of fluff to brighten your day! ;)

I like this shot. It's a basic landscape shot of the beach with the big sun flares going in a line across the image. I don't like these flares on portrait shots, but it looks quite neat on landscapes. Well done - as usual....:p

yeah i like it i think the flare evens out the properties of the composition however without your logo at the top it might make it uneven again

Well we all know I'm a bit weird at times, but I like it with the flare. To my eye it adds something to the photo. I think we've all been sorta trained to think flare is bad- a sign of a bad lens, inappropriate use of filters, or a photographers mistake. Yet when I watch TV I'm surprised at how often it appears that a director has gone out of their way to get flare in a scene. Especially in commercials.

I obviously agree and have raised the issue in the past here. I think where the flare adds to the effect of harsh light or a concentrated burst of light it can work ... sometimes.

Thanks for your comment F8

To show how weird I am, here is a recent shot where I actually added flare where it didn't exist,

Great shot! And that's what I did above ... added the flare.
