Woohoo ... look at all that distortion!! ;)

Sometimes the distortion works and looks good in my opinion ... other times not so much.

Now you need to go learn how to adjust that distortion a bit in pp Lisa :)

For those that are looking to fix distortion PTLens (http://epaperpress.com/ptlens/) is a very reasonably priced software.

Oh yeah that's what I kinda thought when I saw the church shots...I thought "This is what MA must've meant about distortion!"

Thanks Greg...I'll give it a try this weekend! Apparently I get 10 free shots before I have to pay for it. :)

Thanks too for all the comments everyone!

Lisa, I thought I recall you saying you have photoshop elements...am I mistaken? If you do, it has pretty much the same capabilities as PTLens. Greg is right, PTLens is handy and very reasonably priced, but it's actually kinda redundant if you have PSE7

and by the way, which lens is this? Sigma 10-20? I looked for another thread where you mention it, but I can't find it, and your exif only shows that crazy LR Sigma or Tamron lens (not LR's fault apparently but drives me nuts nonetheless). But I noticed some shots at 10mm and not many lenses for Pentax can hit that width.

Indeed it is the Sigma 10-20mm F8...sweet lens! :D
What's with the LR thing you are writing about?

I believe he's referring to LightRoom in your EXIF. It's not reporting the specific lens but rather the following:

Creator Tool: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Lens: Sigma or Tamron Lens

Yes, Lisa, Iggy nailed it. It's nothing wrong with Lightroom or that you are doing wrong, its apparently something to do with the lens manufacturers methods of assigning unique identifiers to their products so that you can see in LR exactly which lens you used on any given shot correctly and also in your EXIF data exported with your images so others can tell. I think it's mainly a problem with the 3rd party manufacturers like Sigma and Tamron but I also have some Pentax brand lenses that come up incorrectly. The weirdest error I get is on a crappy off brand (Sakar) fixed focal length 28mm lens that comes up as 50mm in LR.

While it's not such a big deal, I often like to sort or filter images by the lens just to compare lenses or to see which focal lengths or lenses I use most or for certain kinds of shots, so it would be nice if each of them came up correctly.

Just a question, is it the Sigma 10-20 EX 4 - 5.6 or the newer version that is 3.5 constant aperture?

I have the older version and I really like the lens- it's not incredibly sharp (or at least not my copy) but the ultra wide angle is cool and I like the colour rendition. It's amazing though how you such little changes in your shooting angle or height can affect the perspective so much, especially at the wider end.

It is the Sigma f4-5.5 EX DC.
I like how it shoots, and it gives me a whole bunch of new angles and perspectives to play with. As stated in a different thread, I'm going to a frind's farm tmorrow morning to do a shoot whdere he grew up as a child...he is hoping I get some shots of his father's old '48 ford. He would like to give them to his family as Xmas gifts. :)

Thanks Ig and F8 too for the LR info....good to know.

good luck at the farm shoot. The old Ford might look good grunged up a bit or shot in HDR- make sure you bring a tripod and autobracket some shots. Of course not everybody likes the HDR look. That new lens is one of my faves for shooting vehicles. At 10 - 12mm you can get so close to your subject and still get it all in the frame. It's great for car shows because you are close enough that nobody is likely to get in between you and the car if it's a busy show. But some people give you weird looks because it looks like you are shooting only the headlights, lol.

Here's a shot I took at a local classic car show this summer with that lens...
