Hi Everyone,

Just curious if people have a favourite F-stop? If so what is it?

I know it seems like a strange question, but I find myself favouring a certain F-stop and I wonder if others feel the same. Obviously, I use many different F-stops depending on what I am trying to acheive...but for some reason...I seem to favour F-4 when I get the chance.

anyone else?

You are right it does appear to be an strange question, but being new I assumed you used the F/stop appropriate for the conditions and what your shooting and other factors. Maybe with more experience I will find the question not so strange lol.

More often than not, I appreciate a shallow depth of field. I find F-4 is generally the perfect apeture for shots that I like to take for myself.

When I'm paid to shoot, that's a different story and I use the best aperture for the result the client is looking for.

I find that many of my lenses have their best specs at f4 and since I often shoot in less than bright light, I find myself using fstops in that range very frequently, although not on purpose.
