I'm betting at least one of the Calgarians has a laptop with webcam. Now we have to see which IM service most of the members subscribe to. We could do our own members getting hammered at Lisa's podcast, lol!

I'm in too.

Just checked rates to Canada/US/UK, and air mail of a letter up to 50g is only AU$2.10 which is about US$2.25. Which will be less than the printing.

Libate is a creative form of the word libation which generally means to have a few glasses of wine or beer :D

I'll mark it on my calender. Might suggest getting your prints prepared so that you can ship them as soon as you find out where. Might I suggest everyone send a private message to Casil with your details so that the information can be sent to your photographer once the draw is finished. This way your information isn't posted on the net.

That or we can post the who got who results/details here on the forum and they can work the mailing/contact/size etc and other details b/w each other privately?
I don't mind either way but it's a thought.

I might add if anyone else wants in no problem add your name until Sunday but that's who we have now. If we can keep it an even number it would work best and we have 14 so far.

Coming to the draw on Sunday Dec 7 at my house are:

Raiven
F8

I will PM you libationists with details/contact info this week.

Do you mean Sunday Dec 6th or Monday Dec 7th? Thinking it's the first.:)

JAS_Photo
12-02-2009, 05:41 AM
You don't need an even number btw, Lisa. Just make a list of the people who are participating and using that list make individual names on cards or peices of paper and put those in a hat (or basket or bowl or whatever). Then just draw the names assigning the first name drawn to the first name on the list and so on. If someone gets their own name drawn just throw it back in the 'hat' and draw again until everyone is matched up with someone they will be doing a photo for. :)

casil403
12-02-2009, 10:38 AM
but if everyone is matching with everyone else, shouldn't that indicate we need an even number...ie paring off?
Sorry if I seem a bit daft about this...I am overburdened with all kinds of school medical sematics, jargon and minutae lately so I am having trouble processing the simpler stuff...lol. :wall-an:
Thank Gawd there's no math or my head would have exploded already! :eek: :yuck:
Someone else can do the acttual draw part, I am going to drink wine and try not to think too hard!

Greg_Nuspel
12-02-2009, 11:34 AM
1-2
2-4
3-1
4-5
5-3
all matched :)

AntZ
12-02-2009, 04:01 PM
or why not
2->1
3->2
4->3
.....
n-1->n-2
n->n-1
1->n

where n is the number of participants. 1 draw and works for odd or even.

kat
12-02-2009, 04:13 PM
Haha..i'm confused now...

I would just write the names of everyone on a list once..then write them all individually..draw tham as you go down the list.

I may get Casil but she will send to someone else.

Greg_Nuspel
12-02-2009, 04:19 PM
No lets get two random number generators, then create a pool of numbers, we'll cross reference these to each other and then do what Kat said.:laugh:

AntZ
12-02-2009, 04:20 PM
you do run the risk of getting to the end and having the last person on the list as the last name in the hat. Then you need to manually intervene or redraw.

It's not that complicated, people. *Smacks Antz with a wet fish while he goes and works out probabilities*. The person you are giving to is not necessarily the one you will be getting from. If the slim possibility of Antz scenario were to occur we could all mail him dried kippers for jinxing it. :)

casil403
12-05-2009, 12:25 PM
I'm thinking it might be best to cancel the Calgary Draw on Sunday. The weather is just not great here and I think snow,crappy roads, wine just aren't a good combination. :) :sorry:
I sent all who RSVP'd a PM...what do you all want to do about the draw part? I thought if anyone has a webcam and MSN Messenger or something maybe we can pick a time and view the draw live....either that or I can just do it here and post the resutls, or we can do it at a later date....thoughts? :confused:

Greg_Nuspel
12-05-2009, 12:29 PM
Casil, good call on the cancellation. Personally I trust you to do the draw and send out the results. Lets not make this too complicated :)

casil403
12-05-2009, 12:31 PM
Thanks Greg....it is just what my gut is telling me is best.
I can do it without problems although seeing as i was having trouble comprehending the concept, I am wondering....lol!

Greg_Nuspel
12-05-2009, 12:37 PM
Send one of us the list, that person will rearrange the individuals on the list, you do the same. Then you get the list returned to you. Match them up line by line, if there are any where the person linked to them-self switch the name with the name on the bottom of the list. This should be random enough.

AntZ

hehe, my method doe not mean you are giving to the person you are receiving from. It actually guarantees the opposite. It is also the simplest. Draw the names and the photo giving is to the next on the list. The only tricky bit is closing the loop from the first to the last.
*Why can I smell fish :)*
Definitely no snow here.

I think my local post office has photo mailers that are only a couple bucks, so I might go that route. If I remember correctly they already have cardboard layers for protection and are about the right size.

I've been wondering about signatures. Was that part of the plan that everyone would sign their print? I thought I recall that being mentioned.
