I like them all for different reasons. The looking up from the ground perspective is really interesting. Nice shots, MA.

HA! I love the internet:

The Illawarra Flame Tree (Brachychiton acerifolius), is a large tree native to subtropical regions on the east coast of Australia. It is famous for the bright red bell-shaped flowers that often cover the whole tree when it is leafless. Along with other members of the Brachychiton genus, it is commonly referred to as a Kurrajong.

Are you sure? Flame Trees were my first guess but none of the photos I looked at looked like them at all. Their flowers were much more open. But your description sounds right.

You ARE right. It IS a Flame Tree after all but I don't think it's an Illawarra Flame Tree. They seem to have a much bigger, flower that isn't a bell. Perhaps it is the same but it's yet to burst open? Perhaps it's a different variety? Not sure.

nope not sure at all. I may send the photo to my aunt Janet. She's an avid gardener on Mt. Tamborine.

me, I just want to know stuff. even if it's of no use whatsoever. :headslap:

Cheers marko and Kat/

Don't worry Kat ... the colours will be gone for me very soon. The Jacaranda's are starting to look a little thread bare already. Before I know it we will be back to shades of khaki green and browns!
