What body do you shoot with and what is the one lens you would keep if you could only keep one? Just curious.

Nikon D300

I refuse to pick just one lens I would be found curled up in the fetal position moaning profusely. Just the thought stresses me too much :headslap:

I only have one base.. Nikon D40x and the one lens.. 18-135mm '

Canon 40D (want a 5D mk ll but that's a dream that won't come true for a long while)

Lens ... ummmm IF I had to choose just one ... I'd probably go with my 100-400mm because I can shoot anything with it (very limited on landscapes though) to a point whereas none of the 50mm, 10-22mm, 28-135mm, 24-70mm would suffice for birds and the like.

you're right, one lens choice is unrealistic. So let's just say you're favourite lens or the one you use the most.

For me, my wish list would be the D700 and the new 70-200/2.8 VR II...but back to reality what I've shot the most with is my Pentax K10D and probably my Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 lens, 50-200/4-5.6 WR a close 2nd and as soon as my new DA* 50-135/2.8 (my first pro caliber zoom investment ever) arrives I suspect it will take over as my most used.

I can't really say what I use the most.
For mountain bike events it's been the 24-70mm and the 28-135mm with a few of the 100-400mm thrown in.
For birds it's exclusively the 100-400mm.
For landscapes it's the 10-22mm and the 24 -70mm mostly and occassionally the 100-400.
Portraits it's the 24-70mm or the 50mm usually but I'll occassionally play with the 100-400 again also.

Y'know what else would be interesting? For those of us that use a dbase program like Lightroom, Bridge, Elements or Aperture to see real statistics of what lenses and/or focal lengths they use most often it might surprise a few of us from what we think....
But MA I'm pretty much with you- all over the place, depending on what I'm shooting.
I have this one little lens that is special to me though- it's a Pentax DA 35mm 2.8 macro Ltd. That little bugger is tack sharp, compact yet made of steel, can close focus, and I like that focal length which on a crop sensor body is roughly 50mm in terms of 35mm film/full frame equivalent.
But it's not the one I use the most because I prefer zooms and have a mild aversion to in the field lens changes.....

I love my Canon 70-200 F/2.8 USM. On my cropped sensor it is more like a 100-300. No good for landscapes, but for nearly everything else its great. Quite heavy though.

I love the D300 so it goes everywhere first. I would say the kit lens got more use overall but now that I have the 17-55mm 2.8 it is the main lens. But actually I often throw a lens on the camera and just say today we are doing wide angle shots or we are doing long shots and toss the 35mm in the pack as back up and off I go.

Hmmm... Lens I use? All of them. My favorite lens is likely my 24-70 and as far as bodies go, my favorites are my F5s, but I probably get way more use out of the digital bodies...

Nothing new here. Olympus E-620 with my 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 Zuiko Digital lens.
The 14-54 is my main, and when is the case I'm using 70-300mm f4.0-5.6.

My wish lens is the 35-100mm f2.0 but is way to expensive for me (2,900 canadien dollars).

You are correct. I need to insert 1 word..."generally". Some of the lanscapes I have posted here have been with this lens. Including my last. :)

Nikon D3
Nikkor 80-400

This lense really came to life when I put it on a D3.

In Canon world there is one called Canon EF 28-300mm IS L, I would probably go with that one. If I would have cropped sensor I would go with more affordable one like Sigma 18-250mm OS or Tamron 18-270mm. I also love Canon's 24-105mm but for me it's too short. One of the vocational lenses will do the job. Put it on and forget it kind a thing.

I'd probably use my K10D with my DA* 16-50mm the most.

Right now not much of anything, lol, but usually my D50, 24-70 mm L lens mostly and found it a great concert lens. I use every lens I own but just to go out for a walk and a shoot I have my 70-200 and my wide angle, the numbers seem to have escaped me now. If I go out on a day long shoot both bodies come and so do my all my lenses, but I need to be driving to lug that all around.
