Similar ... but not quite the exact same treatment to both...

Both are good shots. I too prefer the second one because of the blue water in it.

I prefer the background in shot 1 but overall shot 2 is considerably more striking. Nicely done!

Thanks everyone.
Here's a fascinating observation ....
I put the photos up on a local (to me) photograghy website and have yet to have a single positive comment. Nobody there as yet likes it at all.
I expect photos to be subjective in that some will and won't be drawn to a photo in any given forum ... but for it to get split between two forums this way is interesting.
I've noticed though that this forum has a far greater expression of artistic content in terms of the treatments used and accepted here. The other forum has very little. I'm thinking this is something to do with it. This forum has bred a more open mindedness perhaps?
Well..maybe because it's close to home there is more energy over it? I know when people here see a photo of a sight they know..they are more likely to voice up..

I don't think so ... I took that when I was in Western Australia ... I doubt if any of them have ever seen that.

Oh sorry..I was thinking it was close by.
Hmmm..got me.
All I know is I am the opposite of Marko. I'd do the reverse..lol.

I like the first one MA...the background gives it more depth.
They are both really quite good though...especially the SC!

I'm sorry that I don't recognize this memorial and have to ask what it stands for, but they are both nice photographs that captures the sentiment of heroism and sacrafice very well.

This is an Eternal Flame Memorial dedicated to all the soldiers Australia has lost in the wars.
In the wall in the background of shot 2 are the names of the battles/wars ... 'Somme' ... 'Europe 1939-45' ... that sort of thing.
