So I'm thinking of getting the Canon 18mm-200mm IS lens from a local store. It's in excellent condition and I'm getting it for a VERY good price. (Retails for close to $750 CDN and I'm getting it for less than $500 CDN)

Any views on it?? How is the lens? Anyone have it? What do you think?

Save the money or spend it?

One more thing...
I will be getting the 7D eventually. I've heard that some variations of the 7D will come with the 18-135mm lens. How good is that lens? Anyone hear anything about? I heard it's new, so might be tough to get reviews on it...but thought i'd try :)

I didn't know that there was a 18-200mm f/2.8 available for Canon.
The one i'm looking at is a f/3.5.

:headslap:as usual-my dyslexia had me read that 70-200 - i know... :headslap:

the general rule of thumb is the lower the f stop # the more expensive the glass.
if the 3.5 is fixed, and does not change whilst zooming in and out, that makes that lens pretty desirable, imo. if there is a range of the fstop whilst zooming in and out, say 3.5-5.6, then i would give it a lot more consideration.

Yeah it's a 3.5 - 5.6 lens.
I've decided against buying it. I'm going to get the 7D with the 18-135 option which from what i've heard has less barrel distortion and better glass. So let's wait and see.

Thanks a lot for the input...
