I finally got a solid look at these guys today. I was getting tired of chasing them down, so I sat on the beach and soaked up the sun hoping they'd come in. 3 hours later, they were kind enough to show and let me get real close!

With such clear sharp shots it's very easy to see why they are called cross bills. Thanks for sharing!

i looooooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee eeeeeee the colors of the bird in the first pic.... never had a clue that there are birds whose bills crossed:rolleyes:
all are wonderful captures with nice, nice bokeh! way to go!

MA these guys come down to the beach as the tide ebbs. I guess they're looking for something different than the usual berries.

TT, ya the red ones are sweet. I think he's a young one though and his colours will become even more pronounced over time and during season.

There's a nice high tide today so I'm heading out to look for some shorebirds. Hopefully they'll cooperate!
