A bunch of them hanging out in a hole bored through a railroad track, I have no idea why?

They nest underground in the winter. The paper nests are their summer home. I'll bet that's the entrance to their hole. I've noticed lots of empty paper nests lately and a few underground ones also.

Cool shot and I'm hoping you used the longer lens! :eek:
