As I was coming home from a lovely morning at Fish Creek park, the reality of living in a big city slapped me right in the face.

This was the scene of a targeted hit (according to the cop I spoke with who pretty much confirmed it....without actually confirming it....was gang related) that happened early this morning exactly 4 blocks from my house. The person driving the BMW was shot right through the driver's window and is now deceased, but look at all the other bullets that are everywhere! else...so much for targeted hit. Lots of bullet holes in the driver's side door as well.
Anyone could have been shot with all this!

I'm not sure of the details at this point, only that one person is confirmed dead.
And to think of how peaceful and lovely it is less than 20km away... Quite a sad statement really. :(

And that is actually a hoity toity part of town at 4th Street and 17th Avenue.

Well, we have had a shooting or two or three down on my block. a couple gang related and the one was just random.

But I saw a Michael Moore movie that said you don't have gun violence in Canada!

It's true MA. No violence, we take really good care of the mentally ill, support the arts, everyone receives equal and timely medical care and the politicians are only in office to serve the greater good of the citizens. I bet you're green with envy.:o

I bet you forgot to say 'Once upon a time in a land far, far away there lived a make believe society that was perfect in every way, other than not being Australian of course' ;)

Funny thing here is too it was big headlines in Calgary this week on how a well-known gang member was again released into the public while he awaits his deportation hearing in which his lawyer declared they will fight tooth and nail on every charge and accusation!
Yes, the politicians/civil servants serve for the good of all the people!

I live right behind a former couple of well known crack-houses in which I have seen bodies being taken out on a stretcher and twice I have been either walking to work/coming home from work and heard gunshots....both times which resulted in murders.

Did I mention I am moving to a different part of town within the next 2 years?
