What ever shall we do for September? While August's "water" challenge is being judged we should come up with one for September since it's the 1st already!
My suggestion: Beginnings
September is when people begin to get back to work after summer (or winter?) break.
September is when kids go back to school
September is when people get back into "regular" life.
OoooooH! I like that! September is also the beginning of a new season...the end for us above the equeator and the beginning for those below!
Beginnings has my vote!
I like beginnings...wide possibilities on that one
I would go with "beginnings" too.
Edited by Admin - Ok then, 'Beginnings' is the assignment this month. Thanks for the suggestion Iggy!

thanks you two!
HMMMM. the monitor calibration thing again. on the computer that i process on, it seems fine... here on this computer, (I am at work-on break) you are so right, Marko!
I think that the calibrator is going to have to be my next purchase. sigh.

Hello,
This is my absolute first post here, just registered about a minute ago! I've just recently started to get a bit more into photography than I have in the past, and I thought I'd jump into this monthly challenge deal. I took this shot today, ambushing my brother while he was brainstorming... so this photo depicts the beginning of an idea. Let me know what you think.

TT - Much better on the second shot. daddy's face can use a bit more contrast though.
Mick - Welcome to the forum! I like this shot (it 'pops') and the planning behind it. In terms of improvements, the right side looks too tight, it could use a bit more breathing room. The eyes are quite sharp, but they could be ever so slightly sharper. Hope that helps - Marko

Excellent suggestions marko. Nothing I can do about the composition, but I've sharpened up the eyes a little bit, what do you think?

Here is the "beginnings" of a new crop of dragonflies...maybe red and yellow will make orange ones!

I have had to laugh hard about it, casil403. Because once as a teenager – before any biology lessons about Darwing etc. ; -) – I have had set two rabbits together: A black and a white one - hoping for wonderful white-black spotted offspring:lightbulb. :p:headslap:

i think the biggest cause for my confusion is that they are not in the standard positioning... i wonder if there is a kama sutra for dragonflies:rolleyes:???

here's a young'un I captured. she was watching her older sister have a pony ride. I loved how she appeared to be deep in thought.

Got this puppy this weekend playin' paintball with the boys. Great fun despite the bruise.
Ouch..and then I have to chuckle a little. You and my hubby have the same bruise! He got his underground with a rock but none the less..the same!
Ha ha..and I have to mention..I've played paint ball..and never got a bruise :p:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Curious choice of a theme when it's autumn in the northern hemisphere, but what the hey.... So this is a photo which shows past and present, with the focus being on the beginnings of automated farming on the prairies
