An unusual building that has 1890 on the top. Not sure whether that was the year of construction or the address.

I like this shot Tegan - I like the different things reflecting in the windows and i like the repeating patterns.

I do find the top a bit distracting, as well as the lamp pole...but those are the elements that are there and especially for the top there's nothing to do if you want to keep the top of the building.

Of course there's always photoshop, but I wonder about using it in this case.

Nice shot!

This shot looks great!!
The only minor thing I might add is that the framing looks slightly crooked.

Well, following your suggestion, what do you think?

Thanks Realist. I noticed the problem too. I originally tried postprocessing lens correction and even straightening. I am not sure as to what is causing the distortion but I will make a few more attempts.

By the way, Marko, I am surprised you were not "suspicious". :)

LOL - Nope wasn't suspicious on this one. :)

For me this works much better tegan! - No more distractions and i can enjoy the different scenes reflecting in each window.

Great job - I like this photo even more now!

Well, surprise, Marko, because the building is really a sky blue and brick pink colour, with only a hint of black and not a touch of gold anywhere. :)

oh you're bad.

But now that you've told me...I probably should have noticed....the clues were there...but....That just means you did a decent job so kudos.

So now that it's really obvious you like enhancing...These would be my suggestions to make this already fab shot, super-fab. Some of these might not be simple though..Not sure - but I'll shoot them out anyway.

-Most importantly,Get clearer, more detailed scenes in all the windows. Burn em in - clone em in, your choice.
-Remove red stuff at the top of the photo...and purple bush in foreground...
-fix alignment issue (doesn't have to be perfect) on both edges

I'm really liking this shot - great opposite colours too. Some of the 'scenes' in the windows are already really interesting.

and now that you HAVE told us...can we see the original? :D

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, Marko. I will take another look at possible enhancements. If I can fool someone with a good eye like you, it means that I am still learning and improving my skills.

Here is the original, as requested.

I am not too good at photography but in the one you edited I can still see the lamp in the window. Not sure if it was purposeful or not. The shot is interesting though

The only editing of anything out of the photo was the distracting elements at the top. Whether the lamp needs to be edited out depends on whether you find it very visually distracting.

What is your opinion?

well personally I find it distracting. Cause in the first one you see the whole lamp but then the next edit you only see a portion of it on the window. Like it was erased but not fully. KWIM?

OK, where is the lamp you are talking about?...and..KWIM? Sorry, but I have no idea, what that means. :)

That didn't bother me too much...the ones that bother me most are the bright windows - the window in row 1 column 1 and the window in row 2 column 5.

best!

yeah the bright windows pull me away too but tegan yes you got the lamp. The reason it was distracting to me was cause it was just floating.

wow, this is beautiful... i love how you turned the green trees in the foreground that violet color. and the windows look almost ghostly!

i found an easy way on my paintshop pro program, how to tilt the picture to make it appear more straight on - if you happen to have the same program, go to 'image'>'rotate'>'free rotate', (maybe 1.00 to the right) then adjust the edges by cropping a tiny bit.

For the colours, I used a software colour solarization filter as a plug-in which works in Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. Unfortunately it is a commercial product but I found software photo filters to be very useful.

The symetry problem is due to the fact that the building itself is curved with the left and right edges closer than the middle. Compounding that was the fact that I was at an unavoidable lower camera angle than I would have prefered having to shoot with a wide angle focal length. I tried the various straighten and anti-distortion modes in PaintShop Pro and Photoshop and still did not get the right symetry.

Thanks for the comments.
