View Full Version : Waterfall HDR
On vacation recently the only time the sun came out was when I found a waterfall to shoot. Here is an attempt at HDR. Coments please.

I love the flowy water. Not sure if you tried, but I would have tried to sharpen up everything but the water.

For me the HDR effect isn't readily apparent and is preventing this image from 'singing', the tones on the left could be opened up more. The bright area on top is stealing the water's thunder so I'd burn it in quite a bit.
Hope that helps

I have to agree so far. I don't quite see the HDR as well.

Very subtle indeed. In fact it looks just like a well exposed photo more than an HDR merge shot. I think if that's what you were going for then it's a good job because some shadow is retained giving it that dark look where necessary without suffering the blown outs.
I agree with the sharpness comment as that's what I do ... sharpen the necessary elements but leave water or similar soft.
It's a nice shot too EJC ... I like the composition here very much.
Thanks for the feeback everyone. MA nailed it. I was trying for a more natural look. I'll try selective sharpening and burning in the old wall.

Definitely a nice HDR. You can not even tell it is HRD. I would like to see it pop a bit more.
All of the foliage at the top of the fall is distracting. Sometimes there is nothing that you can do about these elements.
