View Full Version : Allsorts
I am interested in thoughts and preferences for these images for a topic "Vibrant". Particularly the composition. Does the centred composition work, like the bottom 2? Or is this one better, which I fixed in GIMP by adding some negative space in GIMP.

This one was under lit.

I know this one is blown out, but I sort of like it, although it really defeats the purpose of this image which is for vibrant colour.

Feel free to suggest a mix of these as I have a lot of variants, or can re-setup.
Thanks in advance.:thankyou:

I like this idea (I also like allsorts!) but in all three the focus is not sharp enough-particularly the stem of the glass. I might play with diff't angles here as well.
however, I am by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert.
of all 3 I like the colors of the first one

The first one does stand out as "vibrant colour" when compared to the others so I like that exposure the best. This is one instance when your border is very distracting. If you are going to create any kind of a border on a photo with a very dark or black background I suggest that you go with a full white border and not just a stripe.
Also, I prefer the balanced space around the subject and this is definitely one where centre composition is more appropriate. And last, I would raise the camera up and try a shot down at about 20 or 30 degrees above the rim of the glass so you can still see the stem of the glass but it's on a kind of downward angle.
Thanks Bambi and IG

I noticed that too, but I think this is just the nature of the glass/reflections, as I know the other elements in the same focal plane are spot on focus wise, and I was using manual focus on a tripod and timer shutter release. Even shots with a larger aperture are like this.

This makes sense as I was following all the rules on this one.

Agree. The border is part of my export settings fo posting here.

Doh, I was so busy messing around with lighting I only did 2 different comps. :wall-an: Partly because I had an expensive camera/lens on a tripod and one of my wifes fine glasses sitting on a stool, and a 2 year old running around.:D
I managed to do a quick re shoot this afternoon. Better?

Also after listening to Marko's podcast on finding subjects, I go this idea while I had the gear setup.
