Playing with some off camera slave flashes while my daughter is up here and a willing model. Say hello to photography.ca member 'Chantelle'
I'd be interested in what people think of this shot overall and of the treatment and lighting which was two off camera flashes from different directions.

The flash on the left seems a little strong, pulling you away from her face. Though her wonderful blue eyes do pull you back.

Hmmmm... I'd drop your keylight about 1/3 - 1/2 stop and add a reflector at lens-level to slightly reduce the over-deep shadow around her right eye.

I agree. I like the pose and Chantelle has beautiful eyes, but the lighting here is too harsh IMO.

Eyes are very pleasant. Lighting is too harsh. Might try and diffuse it more/turn the intensity down, or use some reflectors.
I think she looks like her daddy.
I think she looks like her daddy.
My first thought!! Think everyone has it down for yah! Still can't get over her eyes!

I didn't realise I looked so pretty http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/hihi.gif
Actually harsh light was what I wanted. I've seen some cool shots using very harsh lighting. I think I would count Acadie Libre's self portrait he did as a great example for those who remember that one.
Looks like I need more practice here.
Thanks for that everyone.
Hey MA..I was thinking about this photo and lighting and stuff and thought (Yah..the Kat does think now and then) that maybe this would be a great B&W. Have you tried it?

I know everyone is saying the light is too harsh, but I'm not convienced. Although I think with the harsh lighting it may look really cool Black and White.

You've hidden this side of you so well Kat ;)
I did try B&W ... then Duotone ... then combined the Duotone with the full colour version to create that photo above.
However, if there's one thing we all proved about me once before is that when it comes to B&W I should probably stick to colour! :headslap:
I, personally love the photo ... and seeing as it's my art ... that's all that matters ;)
But I need to be able create images that appeal to others of course so truthfully, everyone's opinion is important to me. It shows me so much perspective.

Personally I like the first image of me that you posted! light was harsh but it worked IMO, and the colour looked great, made my eyes stand out. Make's me look prettier than I am too ;)
Yah. I'm kind of veering to the first one too.

I'm not a real big fan of black and white photos or similar (can never rememebr what it's called when it looks old). I rather my eyes have colour :o I like my eyes :p

Yeh I did too. Or maybe 4.5% ;) I did dodge it a little but that's about all I got out of it.
