Very nice, subtle lighting again Raiven. Love the light/shadow in the petals.

I think I would have liked to see this a bit tighter in ... closer up.

I like the second shot, but the petal on the left is blown out (on my monitor, at least). Again, agree with MA about the preferring the shadow/light play in the first.

Its a bit closer for me. I like the desaturated look of the second one, even the similarity in colour with the background, and especially the detail. Nice shots Raiven.:highfive:

I noticed a spot top left of the second one that could be removed.:twocents:

I like shot 1 very much and the critiques on it thus far, I agree with.

I'm now working with 2 monitors - one calibrated (a higher end monitor with reduced contrast - perfect for photo work) and one uncalibrated (a medium range general purpose monitor) I am still getting used to this setup as i have them side by side and images look drastically different.

On my calibrated monitor I cannot see the the leaves or background light very well as they appear quite dark. The flower bulb looks great though.

On my uncalibrated monitor - everything is quite bright and I can clearly see the leaves and oval pattern of the background light on the wall....and I can see why you did not crop this image...because you wanted to keep the oval pattern of light.

(AS AN ASIDE FOR MY OWN USE IF MEMBERS COULD PM ME HOW THEY SEE THIS IMAGE IN RELATION TO THIS CRITIQUE IT WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED - i DON'T WANT TO CLUTTER THIS THREAD ABOUT MY PERSONAL SETUP)

back to the critique....In this case, although the BKGD light adds to the subject, the subject is not the light, and so this image would be better served cropped IMO. Hope that makes sense.

Shot 2 - I also like. It's very delicate colours are beautiful. The bottom petal has a lovely white texture and is well exposed. The left petal though is clipped and has no detail even on my reduced contrast monitor.

I must say that in general, i'm enjoying looking at your flowers raiven. Very well done and I can tell that you are putting time and effort into these.

Thanks for the comments all. :) The second rose despite the blown petal I like the very delicate look it ended up with.
