Can anyone opine on AccessoryCircuit.com? I was looking for the rare SB800 flash unit - they apparently have some left... never purchased from them however.... not looking for any serious endorsements - just if they have been around a while and if there are any horror stories.. Thanks!

I may go with the SB600 - about $100 cheaper - but I already have 2 and they cannot be used as a commander on camera like the 800.... any opinions on this are welcome - getting "into" studio type portraits..

I have never bought anything from them personally, but I see they have a rating of 6.67/10 on resellerratings.com and there are six reviews there about half positive and half mentioning out of stock items/bait and switch tactics. I usually think these kinds of reviews are skewed towards the negative as not many people are compelled to go through the effort of getting logged in and typing a review unless they are angry. Obviously best to talk to a person and get their name to confirm if they have actual stock on hand and how many. Pay through paypal and/or credit card for some extra protection.

As for the SB-600, I have one and wish I had sprung for the 800, but I'm with you in not quite being excited enough by the 900 to spring for that much more $$$. I would think there are still some 800s around in stock, maybe a bit harder to find and I don't know how hard you've worked at it already, but google, ebay, etc with some due diligence should produce at least a few options. You might even try some Canadian retailers like Vistek, London Drugs, Henry's, etc (be mindful of warranty coverage implications if that matters to you- it wouldn't to me).

I think Joe McNally's probably got all the SB800's... ;)

Anyone reading his Hot Shoe Diaries book? Great stuff. Must be fun to light a plane with 47 Nikon speedlites... (!)

Thanks for your info.. I will try the Canadian vendors... I am in no hurry and besides... looking/researching camera gear is almost as much fun as using it!

hahaha rare sb800?? you´re kidding right?
Sb800 is a lot better than sb600, it´s always good to have at least one of em, so I have one 800 and one 600

Not sure if you meant this the way I'm interpreting it, but we all know the SB-800 is better than the SB-600. It has recently been succeeded by the new SB-900 and as far as I know has been discontinued by Nikon and therefore is becoming a bit hard to find in stock in North America. So it is really getting to be rare.
