I was looking for a good tripod bag for carrying it around on hikes etc. I read another post about someone using a golf bag which is great but perhaps a bit heavy?.

I have another tip...I'm going to use a folding camp chair bag. It fits the tripod perfectly and has a strap that I can sling over my shoulder.
Great for walking or hiking!
Thought I would pass it on!

Good call. I bought an el cheapo tripod last fall for like 50 bucks, and it came with its own carrying bag. Didnt have the money to buy what I wanted so scrimping was the best temporary decision. The tripod has worked great for what it is, but one of the straps broke on the camera. What Ive been doing lately is taking a carabiner and attaching both cameras by their neck straps. Then attach it to a backpack so there is no weight on my neck. Then hang a camera on each side of my neck so I have two camera's with seperate lenses and ready for any occasion I might run into while walking around. Then in the backpack Ill have other camera accessories and such, with the tripod attached to the outside with another carabiner, so I can walk around hands free without all the weight on the backpack. Makes walking soooo easy. Plus all it takes is a quick snap with a carabiner and everything can be attached and detached. Sounds kind of cheesy and probably looks cheesy, but clothes, cars, cameras, and everything else is life is about functionality. I would definitly lose the most stylish person of the year award.
