"real" harsh huh? I actually find this one a little difficult to critique.
I like the composition with what is effectively empty space in the top 2/3 of the image, with the subject at the bottom. The framing of the bird works well. I also like that, although it is pretty much a silhouette, you have managed to retain detail in the bird.
My eye is drawn back and forth between the top and bottom of the image. I would definitely clone out the spot top right (another sea bird?) as I find it distracting. Just thinking out loud here, but maybe even change the aspect ration to 4:5 to use the front wave as a natural border (especially if you want to focus attention to the bird at the bottom)??? I am not sure about this though??
I don't know my birds, but assume from the title this is a blue heron??? If it isn't then I dont get the "blue" from the image. Actually to my eye, the colour and contrast look a bit like a split toning or selenium effect, but overall I find the colour palette a little ho hum and wish it had a little more punch.
I have tried to nit-pick as much as I can, and hope this may give you a couple of things to think about.

It is actually pretty, I love the blurred effect especially on the water. I wonder why that bird is alone.
