In a small town between my house and New Orleans, they build large bonfires on the banks of the Mississippi River, to light on Christmas Eve, so Papa Noel can find his way. They have been doing this for well over 100 years.

I will never know. On Christmas Eve, 100,000 people drive down there to see them. I hear that it takes 3 hours to drive the 10 km stretch of road to see them.

Well I hope it worked and Papa Noel found you. Thanks for sharing AT. I really enjoy hearing about unique customs in different parts of the world. I agree it must be quite a sight.
