I am trying to clean up and delete my attachments but the attachment management page only allows me to delete some but not others.
What's the problem?

These are links to the actual image - not the thread.

I can delete these for you, but if I do, all the comments and replies (other members' investments of time) also get deleted. or the thread is useless because it refers to a non existent image.

These are strong images, can I ask why you want them deleted?

thx

Two of them are being published within two weeks.
I also would still like to know why I have no direct control over these myself.

Is this what you need?

The images and threads have been deleted.
In general members can only edit for so long, then they need a mod or admin to help with the edits.
Several reasons for this include security and spirit of community.

This forum is an educational one, where we learn from each other.
The comments the other members made were useful - Without the image though, the thread is dead for every future visitor to the site.
Deleting the images defeats the purpose of people commenting on them.
Hope that makes sense
